Turn a meeting transcript into decisions, owners and dates

Converts a raw transcript into the three things anyone actually needs afterwards: what was decided, who owns it, and by when.

Works with Claude, ChatGPT, GeminiUpdated 2026-09-27

When to use it

Use this after any internal meeting that produced decisions but no written record. It works on a raw transcript from Zoom, Meet, Fireflies or Otter, and it is deliberately strict about not inventing owners or dates that were never said aloud.

Opening this in Claude or ChatGPT sends the prompt with its {{PLACEHOLDERS}} still in it. Replace them with your own details before you send, or copy the prompt and fill them in first.

You are summarising an internal meeting for people who were not in the room.

Here is the transcript:

<transcript>
{{TRANSCRIPT}}
</transcript>

Produce exactly four sections:

1. DECISIONS
Each decision that was actually made, one line each. A decision is something the group settled, not something someone suggested. If a topic was discussed but left open, it belongs in OPEN QUESTIONS, not here.

2. ACTIONS
A table with: what, who owns it, by when. Use the person's name exactly as it appears in the transcript. If an owner was never named, write "unassigned".
If a date was never said, write "no date given". Do not infer either.

3. OPEN QUESTIONS
Anything raised and left unresolved, with whoever raised it.

4. FOR {{AUDIENCE}}
Three bullets, written for someone who was not there and has two minutes.

Rules:
- Every line must trace to something actually said. No tidying up, no filling gaps.
- If the transcript is too fragmentary to produce a section, write "nothing in the transcript supports this" under that heading rather than guessing.
